My heart’s desire isn’t always so fruitful,
The wants I need for aren’t always so wise,
The man I love isn’t always so loyal,
The life I dream of won’t ever be true.
But I live in the moment, the ones great and small,
I reach for high points no matter how far I may fall.
Looking to the past is too easy, the future’s no greater,
So feast on the banquet of life, the moment’s headwaiter.
Explore different lands, trek stormy seas,
Fight with your heart, bring order and peace.
Take chances and risks,
Enjoy the ride of your fall,
See the upside in darkness,
Enjoy life most of all.
Until the moment my last breath is drawn from my lips
I still have more time, I still have more quips.
I’ll mother a family, I’ll wife a good man,
I’ll live for my loved ones, and myself if I can.
I embrace everyday knowing more is yet to come,
Times may seem rough but there’s no need to feel glum,
There’s birthday’s to laugh through, events filled with joy.
My first married kiss, my child’s first toy.
I may die somewhat inside when the bad times come ‘round
But I won’t let disaster keep me on the ground,
I’ll rise way above it, I’ll show the whole world
To grasp what you have like a precious rare pearl.
Take the time to smile, take the effort to laugh,
Don’t avoid your future, don’t obsess with your past.
I love where I’m going, I thank where I’ve been,
I wouldn’t be me if it weren’t for past scenes.
Don’t take your life for granted,
Take hold of each day,
Make risky decisions,
Although regret them you may.
Not everything is great, but horrid it is not,
Smile every day for the life that you’ve got.
I’m not perfect, neither’s living
But I live and I love,
To be me is my destiny
Meant for me from above.
To not embrace what you have I see as a mistake
To enjoy is a choice, a choice we should take. —MW
